@Susan-- I appreci...@Elizabeth-- you are the best!

@Susan-- I appreciate your advice and I did go follow your blog (great stuff). I did consider the self-pub path a while ago (over a year ago), but I wasn't ready to go that route. If this was just about money then I would. I know I could sell a few thousand (by scheduling lots of speaking gigs), but by partnering w/ an agent and a publishing house I believe my story could reach so many more hands than I could ever get it to on my own. I have big dreams to speak at women conferences and to see my memoir in print in book stores all over the United States. So a lot of patience and a lot of faith, mixed in with humility and hard work and I believe my dreams will come true. I feel like this is the path God wants me to take and that's why I've chosen the harder road.Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00368485571268832781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5198004210032806701.post-88245140165059996502013-10-13T11:18:02.725-04:002013-10-13T11:18:02.725-04:00I suggest that you self-publish and use your book ...I suggest that you self-publish and use your book as a calling card to become a lecturer, first to rape victim support groups, and women's clubs and book groups, who will feature you as speaker in return for allowing you to sell and sign books. Send complimentary copies to local news publications, TV folks, and radio interviewers, and you will be surprised how far a WELL EDITED and professional-looking book will get you. Take charge of your own career and your mission, and don't allow the publishing world to victimize you, too. If the book is meant to move thousands, it will eventually do so. You sound as if you are burning to share your story, so do it!Susan L.
